Biology Blog Model

  • Science courses require a lot of in-class work and notes.  Therefore, this blog will be better for review, updates, and notes/video reviews for students who might have missed the class.
  • Teachers can give a briefing of what took place in class that day, post videos from online or the videos usually provided by the text book companies, they can embed their in-class power points/prezis for students to review or read if missed class, and they can post chapter outlines and notes.
  • They can post their homework as well in these daily posts.  If they need to read a number of pages from the book they can list these pages and embed them via docstoc or PDF for the students.  Students can ask questions about the reading or subject in the comments.  This will allow for peer to peer and teacher to peer learning/discussion on the blog which will continue into the class room the following day.
  • If the teacher assigns activities they can embed a scanned version of those as well which students can print out and complete or complete on a separate sheet of paper off of the blog.  This will help students who missed class and thus didn't get an in-class copy of the activity or students who lost the in-class sheet.  Again, students can always comment to posts for help.
  • Teacher can have a class calendar on the side bar of the blog so students can see what's happening in the class now and in the future and what happened in the past.
